The internet is a wonderful place. It has enabled us to buy virtually anything we want, and it has also brought the price of many different items down by a huge amount, with one of these items being the humble pair of glasses. It is now infinitely possible to buy a set of cheap specs online costing a fraction of the price they would cost in a regular optician, so the question has to be asked: why aren’t more people making use of this money-saving service?
Well, the simple answer to this is that most people see a direct correlation between price and quality, which in many cases is true. In the case of cheap glasses though, this is not true at all – glasses bought online are just as good as the ones found on the High Street up and down the country. So let’s have a look at a few common misconceptions that people have regarding cheap glasses from the internet…
They Don’t Work As Well
This is perhaps the most important problem that people have when it comes to buying cheap glasses online, but the fact is that it is a completely untrue statement. Regardless of where you buy your glasses from – whether online or in an optician – the process of getting the correct lenses in will be the same. In fact, because online stores are in less of a rush to meet the time restraints placed on opticians by impatient customers, the chances of mistakes are even less.
They Are Less Robust
Many people think that the reason cheap specs are so cheap is that they are made using inferior material or because the craftsmanship that has gone into them is in some way not as good. This is again untrue. The reason that glasses from the internet are cheaper is not because of this; it is because online retailers don’t have all of the big overheads that the High Street opticians have. This means that they don’t have to constantly push their prices up and up to cover their rent or their staff costs. All reputable online stores will sell glasses of high quality – although they still won’t be strong enough to survive when you accidentally sit on them late at night!
They Aren’t As Nice
The design of a pair of glasses in relation to how nice they look is, of course, completely subjective, but one thing is for sure – the designs of cheap glasses bought online can be just as appealing as designs from any of the world’s biggest companies, such as Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss. If you are desperate to buy designer glasses, then there are even a number of online stores that sell them very cheaply, therefore meaning that you can still relax in the knowledge that you are “cool”.
As can be seen, the various myths about cheap specs from the internet are untrue. In a time when people are finding their purse strings getting tightened by the day, we need to ensure that we get the best value for money possible. For many people buying glasses is a necessary purchase, but spending huge amounts of money is not necessary at all!
