It does not seem like there should be very much to consider when you go to choose sunglasses, find a pair that you like and purchase them. Sounds simple enough but the truth is when you go to purchase sunglasses you should invest a bit more time and energy into the sunglasses that you select.
Why Spend Time Choosing Sunglasses?
What some people may not realize when they go shopping for sunglasses is there are a number of things that should be taken into consideration.
One of the first things to consider is do you wear prescription glasses in general? If you do and are required to wear them all the time, you should probably consider looking into investing in a quality pair of prescription sunglasses. This way you will be able to shield your eyes from the damaging rays of the sun while still being able to see properly.
When looking at different sunglasses make sure you take into consideration the size and the shape of the frames. While many celebrities get sunglasses that seem to cover half of their faces with their huge lenses, this may not be the best or most logical look for you. The scale does matter when it comes to sunglasses. Try on a variety of different frames and find what compliments your facial features the best. You want to pick frames that will add to your face, but not add years to your life or drag all of your facial features down.
Find sunglasses that are comfortable to wear and are aesthetically appealing. If you spend a lot of time outside, you do not want to have a pair of sunglasses that irritate your nose or your ears. You want sunglasses that will sit comfortably on your face and will shield your eyes from the sun. Also, pay attention to the colors and design of your frames. Even though you are getting them for protection, you need to purchase frames that will complement not only your skin tone but your eye color as well. Like clothes compliment your body and face, your sunglasses are also there to complement your face. Make sure you choose wisely.
Do not forget that not all sunglasses are the same. Some may look good on you but do not protect your eyes in the manner that they should. Other sunglasses may give you adequate protection but make you look older than you want to look. If you have any doubts or simply need a second opinion, take a trusted friend with you who has a sense of style you trust when going shopping for sunglasses.
Protecting your eyes from the harmful effects of the sun is an important task, but shopping for polarized sunglasses can be daunting with so many different options available on the market. Some of my personal favorites are from the 8wake Collection.
